DEVOTION – DAY 456

Galatians 3:26-27 “Faith In The Lord”

Galatians 3:26-27 “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”

When someone decides by faith to invite Jesus Christ into their life to be their Lord and Savior, they are cleansed of all unrighteousness by the shed blood of Jesus on the cross on their behalf. They are now justified – meaning God declared him or her no longer guilty of sins. That person is then welcomed and adopted into God’s family as a co-heir with Christ – that is what being a child of God means. He or she enjoys all the rights and privileges as a child of God. He or she is now covered with Christ’ righteousness and thus, fully acceptable in the eyes of God, the Father, who is Holy and Righteous.

We know a man who likes to think of himself as logical. He told us that he found it hard to believe all the claims in the Bible. He believed in evolution and science and he thought that the Bible was not relevant to his life today. We engaged him in discussions just to try to understand more about his beliefs. He told us he found it hard to believe that God created man and woman and everything in the universe. He also found it hard to believe in the miracles of Jesus. He chose to believe that the universe was the result of a Big Bang, a cosmic event that took place more than 13 billion years ago, that created the vast expanse that we now call the Universe. He also chose to believe that fossil records indicate that life was due to the process of evolution.

We told him that science had not been able to explain what had caused the Big Bang in the first place and also, many other scientists have casted many doubts about the evolution theory. We had to tell him that it is easier to put faith in what the Bible says as truth. It is even more incredible to believe that everything in the universe is the result of pure chance, that all living creatures including human beings co-existed so perfectly because it all happened by chance – that is what science would have people believe. We had to tell him that the Bible is not a textbook. It is God’s revelation of what He wants us to know. We all need to take a step of faith to believe in what the Bible says. God is the one who will give us that faith. We told this man to ask God humbly to have the faith to know Him. That is a request that God is sure to answer. Faith will open his eyes to the truth about Jesus and his own need for the Lord and Savior.

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, you are Faithful and True. Please help us to strengthen our faith in You. Please help us to be always prepared to defend our faith in you before others and to point them the saving grace of the Lord Jesus. We pray this in the powerful name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
