Romans 8:38-39 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The above verses offer great assurance to anyone who ever doubted God’s love for them. The apostle Paul confirmed that nothing in all creation will ever separate believers from the love of God. Paul went on to say “neither height nor depth” – meaning that nothing is beyond God’s loving reach.

We sometimes come across people who think they have done really bad things and that they were sure that God would not want to have anything to do with them. We always tell them that they must not believe the lies of the devil who tells them that God does not love them because of their terrible sins. We tell them that it was precisely because of our sins that our Lord Jesus died on the cross. And when we truly confess and repent, God will forgive us and cover us with Christ’ righteousness. No sin is too terrible for God to turn His back on us. Nothing will ever separate us from His love if we go to Him in humble repentance.

Justin Bieber is a famous singer. He found fame when he was just 12 years old. His mother had uploaded one of his videos of him singing on YouTube. He came from a broken family and a poor background. He used to busk in front of a local theatre just to earn some extra cash. He was discovered when a record producer chanced upon one of his YouTube videos. He was offered a recording contract. Early fame came with many problems. He was into substance abuse and became addicted to painkillers and prescription drugs. He was also arrested several times for vandalism, dangerous driving and resisting arrest. Despite his fame and increasing wealth, he was in danger of his life spiraling out of control. Then, when he was 19, when he felt pressure from all sides, he turned to Jesus. He invited Jesus into his life. At the same time, he met the celebrity Pastor Carl Lentz formerly of Hillsong Church. He was baptized when he was 20. Today, he remains a famous singer and he is a member of Churchome, an evangelical church. He has also married and he no longer falls foul of the law. He has also over-comed his addictions and he attributed this to having Christ in his life.

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us and giving us an assurance that nothing will ever separate us from your love. Please help us to remain close to the Lord Jesus for we can do nothing without Him in our lives. We pray this in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
