DEVOTION – DAY 375

2 Chronicles 7:14 “Heal Our Land”

2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

King Solomon had completed the temple in Jerusalem and had dedicated it to the Lord. The Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream. The Lord confirmed that He had chosen the temple in v.13. In v.14, the Lord commanded His people to humble themselves and repent. The Lord would forgive their sins and heal their land.

Many people look to God for blessings. Many people cry out to God with their prayers expecting God to answer their prayers. The focus is often about what people want from God, and not what God required of them. As today is the National Day for Malaysia, it is appropriate for Christians in Malaysia to humble themselves and confess and repent of their sins, so that nothing can stand in the way between them and God, who is Holy. Likewise, we also invite fellow Christians, who may not be Malaysians, to also humble themselves and confess and repent of their sins so that their sins would not separate them from God.

Let us pray together for the following:

  1. Wisdom for the government to rule justly and to carry out their responsibilities with accountability, honesty and care.
  2. Stable, consistent and committed government that purpose to serve the nation rather than being self-serving.
  3. Peace and racial harmony over the country.
  4. Freedom and right to hear the gospel message and for the people of the nation to decide to believe or reject the gospel message.
  5. Social services to be more caring for the poor, homeless and the disadvantaged.
  6. End to corruption and wasteful exploitation of the nations’ natural resources.
  7. Christians to unite to expand the work of their churches as they eagerly await the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  8. Christians to be rooted in God’s Word, applying it for eternal good.

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, we thank you for your faithfulness in enabling our nation to prosper through the years. We humbly pray that your people will always humble themselves and repent of their sins so that you will hear our cries and heal our land, that your mighty purposes be fulfilled. We pray this in the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
