Psalm 107:10 – “Give Thanks”

Psalm 107:1: “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”

We have all been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Some of us have family members working in hospitals and we prayed for their safety. Some of our families work in industries that have been so badly affected that their incomes have been cut, industries like airlines, tourism, property and so on. We are worried that our children will fall behind in their studies as schools closed and many are studying online with mixed results. We continue to be fearful of getting infected when we go to crowded places or take public transport.

It is stressful times like these that we need to be reminded how much God loves us and that we need to thank Him for His love. Psalm 107:1 reminds us that God’s love endures forever. This means God’s love is with us in every situation, whether good or bad. God loves us whether we are successful in what we do, or even if we had failed miserably. God’s love does not depend on how other people see us or think of us. God accepts us just the way we are. He is deeply interested and concerned about us. And to show you and I how much He loves us, He had already sacrificed His one and only Son, the Lord Jesus.

We have a church member working in a hospital. The hospital treated many suspected Covid-19 patients. A co-worker was infected but our church member had negative test results. Someone had their income cut significantly because the pandemic had affected business but there was always food on the table for the family. Another person we know ran a travel agency. Before the pandemic, she was always busy leading tour groups abroad but now, for the first time, her travel plans have stopped and she has more time to spend with God in prayer and reading His Word. She may earn less but she also spends less. One of our member’s daughter was stranded abroad as an exchange student. The Covid-19 pandemic caused the exchange program to end abruptly. She managed to get a flight home after a few attempts and she made it back without infection. She was allowed to self-quarantine at home. In all these things, we give thanks for indeed, God’s love endures forever.

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us unconditionally. Help us to trust you always and to love others as you have loved us. In Jesus Christ great name we pray. Amen.

  1. God loves you unconditionally. Who will you show unconditional love to?
  2. Are you fearful about something and will you trust that no matter what happens, God’s love for you endures forever?
  3. How does knowing that God’s love is enduring comfort and assure you?
