Psalm 148:13 “Praising God, the Creator”

Psalm 148:13 Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted; His splendor is above the earth and the heavens.

All nature bears testimony to the greatness of God for He is the Creator of everything in the universe. Every sunrise sheds light to a darkened world. Every beautiful sunset is followed by a sky lit up with countless stars. Every flower point to the creativity of God who wishes to delight our eyes with myriad colors and variety. From the smallest stream to the mightiest mountain ranges, we see the hand of God upon it. Instead of praising God and exalting His Holy Name, there are people who choose to praise the creation rather than the Creator. There are people who choose to praise and worship their imaginary gods of the sun, the moon, the stars and even mother nature. There are people who deny that humanity was created by God, and instead choose to believe that humanity were the products of evolution. Yet, when asked what started the evolution process, these people are unable to answer.

But the Bible declares that God created everything in Genesis 1. All creation reveals its splendor and it is there for all to see. It is evident all around us, above the earth and the heavens. And as result, God deserves all our praise and worship. For without Him, nothing was made that is made. He alone is to be exalted.

We know someone who is an idol worshipper. She runs a business and she installed an altar to her idols at her place of work. She would worship her idols and offer daily sacrifices and incense to ensure that her business was successful and that everything would go smoothly for her. She would also consult her astrologist who would study the stars and her date and time of birth, to determine when it would be auspicious for her to start her business in the new lunar year of the Rabbit. We told her that she need not have to do all these things if she put her faith and trust in the almighty God of all Creation, and also in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. We are praying for her salvation and for more opportunities to point her to the true Creator God.

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, you alone deserve all our praise, honor and glory. Your name is to be exalted above all. There is none like you. Please be gracious and open the eyes of those who are spiritually blinded in idol worship. We pray for their salvation. We humbly pray in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
