DEVOTION – DAY 167
Hebrews 4:13 “God Knows Everything”
Heb.4:13 “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”
The Bible tells us that God is All Knowing, All Present and All Mighty Living God. Thus, everything is known to Him. Even our thoughts and deepest secrets are known to Him. That is what All Knowing means. God knows our motives. He sees right through our hearts. That is why the above verse reminds us that everything is uncovered and laid bare before God’s eyes. One day, everyone will have to stand before Him and give an account. There is no escape. This verse should serve as a powerful warning that we must obey and do what God tells us in His Word because we will have to give an account before Him and we will be fully exposed before Him. For Christians, their time of judgment will result in their receiving rewards based on what they have done for the Lord. As for their sins, because Jesus had shed His blood for their sins, the Lord will consider that all the sins had been atoned for. For unbelievers, their time of judgment will be the full weight of God’s wrath because they had rejected Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross. Every single sin of unbelievers will be accounted for and judged accordingly.
A government minister was secretly having an affair with another man’s wife. In front of everyone, he appeared powerful and respected. A Buddhist monk appeared pious and humble wearing his saffron robes and chanting his Buddhist sutras. However, when he thinks no one knows, he would secretly visit casinos and gamble. Another government minister would be photographed going to Mecca for his pilgrimage. He was also photographed with his wife and children presenting an image of a family man. Yet, when he thinks no one knows, he has affairs with other men. A woman was a trusted employee of her company. She was always ready to work overtime so that her company’s accounting records were prepared on time for her bosses. But secretly, this woman had been transferring some of her company’s money into her own private bank accounts to support her spending habits. The overtime she had to do was to make sure she could cover up her illegal transfers by falsely amending the accounting records and covering her illegal transactions.
What do all these people have in common? They were all doing bad things thinking no one will discover the truth of their actions. Yet, their actions were eventually exposed in the newspapers and the scandals affected all their careers and damaged their reputations. One government minister resigned. The monk was demoted. The woman ended up in prison. One minister is still holding on to power but even if he thinks he can weather the scandal, he will not escape God’s judgment.
Let us pray: Heavenly Father, we praise you for you are Almighty, All knowing, All present and All powerful living God. Help us to love you, fear you, obey you and follow you all the days of our lives. In the great name of the Lord Jesus, we pray. Amen.
