DEVOTION – DAY 612
Isaiah 25:1 “God Deserves All Praises”
Isaiah 25:1 “Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness, you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.”
The writer, Isaiah begins this verse with the declaration that the Sovereign Almighty God is also his God. It was a declaration that Isaiah belonged to Him and they had a personal relationship. Isaiah knew God and desired to exalt and praise Him. This is a natural response of all who call themselves God’s children. Christians are created to worship, love and serve His mighty purposes.
God is worthy of all praises because He alone is perfect. He is faithful. He keeps His promises and can always be relied upon. God has also done wonderful things. There is evidence of His mighty works all around us that bears testimony to His work. Every newborn baby is evidence of His creative hand. The beauty of nature, our solar system, how the earth rotates around the sun giving us seasons, rain and sun in equal measures, all speak of the countless wonderful things He has done. God is also in charge of history for He alone sovereignly directs kings, nations and empires to fulfill His plans. God had even planned our very existence – He knew us before we were even born, when we were still in our mothers’ wombs. He had planned us to be His own children. That is why He deserves all our praises.
I first heard the gospel about Jesus Christ when I was sixteen years old. I did not respond to receive Him as my Lord and Savior at that time. I only opened my heart to invite Him into my life as my Lord and Savior in my early thirties. God had always been there in my life but I had pushed Him into the background thinking my way of living was better than what God had planned for me. Looking back, I was so foolish because God’s plans are always much better than mine. And I wouldn’t have had to be stressed out at times trying to face challenges on my own. Since I became a Christian, I joyfully praise Him, because the Holy Spirit has taught me how great God is. He is indeed Sovereign and worthy to be praise. The fact that the Holy Almighty God wants to have a relationship with me, an unworthy, unholy person is worthy of all praise.
Let us pray: Heavenly Father, we thank you for your goodness, grace, mercy, kindness and love. We worship you for you are faithful, powerful, sovereign, and there is none like you. Please help us to love you with all our mind, strength and heart. In Jesus Christ great name we pray. Amen.
