Acts 4:12 “Jesus Is The Only Way”

 

Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

 

The apostles Peter and John had healed a beggar who had been lame from birth and they were preaching the gospel to people in Jerusalem. This event caused them to be arrested and to be tried before the Sanhedrin, the Jewish authority at that time. The Sanhedrin questioned Peter and John by what power or name did they healed the lame beggar. They asked who authorized them to preach about Jesus. Peter and John declared that they did all this by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth (Acts 4:10). They also added that this was the same Jesus that the Sanhedrin had demanded to be crucified and that God had raised from the dead. They concluded by declaring that salvation was found in no one else under heaven except by the name of Jesus Christ.

 

Peter and John clearly stated that salvation was found in no one else, for there was no other name under heaven given to mankind by which anyone could be saved. Today, people try to dispute this fact. There is a popular saying that “All roads lead to Rome” meaning that there are many ways to reach the same goal. Thus, people today may think that Jesus Christ is not the only way to get to Heaven. There are people who think that Buddha, Prophet Mohammad, Confucius, Hindu Gods and so on are different ways that people can find salvation and reach Heaven. There are people that think that it is wrong to insist that salvation is only through belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. They say that such belief is divisive. The world is trying to water down what the Bible teaches by being more inclusive, to include other religions. Thus, when King Charles is to be crowned in May 2023, instead of being asked to be the Defender of The Faith (Christianity), he will be asked to be the Defender of Faiths.

 

But the Bible is clear. Acts 4:12 says that salvation is found in no one else. There is no other name under heaven except Jesus Christ that God has given to mankind in order that they may be saved. And the Bible never lies. It is the source of absolute truth.

 

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, your Word is truth. Please help us to guard our hearts and minds against falsehoods of this world and to always keep close to your Word. We pray this in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
