DEVOTION – DAY 264
Psalm 95:4-5 “Creator God”
Psalm 95:4-5 “In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands form the dry land.”
In Psalm 95, the psalmist calls everyone to worship the Lord for He is the Rock of our salvation. The Lord is the great God. He is above all other gods. In vv4-5 above, the psalmist explains why God is above all other gods. God is the Almighty Creator. He can hold the depths of the earth in one hand. All creation including every mountain peak belongs to Him. God formed the seas and it is His hand that created the dry land – every one of the world’s continents had been formed by Him. When we look at the amazing diverse scenery across the world, the majestic snowcapped mountain peaks, the coral reefs and the sandy beaches surrounding tropical islands, we marvel at both the creation and its Creator.
I had a relative who wanted to fulfill his desire to travel and see the world before he died. He booked himself onto a round the world cruise. The cruise would circumnavigate the world in 100 days and would land in many countries that he had never been before. During this long trip, he would regularly post photos of scenic places that the cruise took him to. He enjoyed countless sunrises and sunsets. He saw skies lit with countless stars when the ship was in the middle of a calm ocean and all around was pitch darkness. When he returned, he was full of stories and memories. I asked him what sceneries and wonders impressed him the most. He confirmed that there were too many to consider. I told him that all the wonders he had seen, were testimonies to the Creator God whose hands created everything in the Universe. It is a testimony to His might and majesty and our response should be to acknowledge Him as the Almighty God and Father.
Many people today also see the natural wonders all around them. They read scientific reports of the vast Universe and marvel at the wonders of outer space. Yet, they refuse to acknowledge the hands that made it all. They refuse to believe in the Creator God. Instead, they attribute creation to mother nature. They are blind to the truth that lies in Psalm 95 that God’s hands formed everything.
Let us pray: Heavenly Father. You are indeed the Almighty Creator of the whole Universe. Please forgive those who foolishly deny your existence and we pray that may all nature continue to bear powerful witness to you, as the Majestic, All-powerful Living God. We pray these things in the great name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

- If God made everything including us, what should be our response to our Creator God?
- How can you guide your children and grandchildren to love the Creator and not created things?
- People worship the god of the Sun, goddess of the moon, god of harvests and so on. How are these false gods inferior to our Creator God? Discuss.
